Hardly a day goes by without the serious issue of climate change and pollution hitting the headlines. With this in mind, we wanted to develop a range of mattresses with sustainability and the environment at the forefront. The result was Rollo, an eco-friendly mattress range, made with the latest technical advancements for the benefit of the planet, and our greenest ever mattress collection. Here’s how we did it:
Cleaner & Greener Foam
Following a government report on toxic chemicals in everyday life and subsequent media coverage, all our foams have been improved to meet the ‘Greener Cleaner’ development. This puts us a step ahead of other mattress manufacturers, and in good stead for any legislative changes in the UK and Ireland.
What’s more, all our foam is CertiPUR approved, which sets strict limits on permissible levels of harmful organic compounds.
Chemical-free Fabric Covers
The fabric used on the top surface of a Rollo mattress is made from a special yarn which is inherently resistant to fire. This means there is no need to add a fire-resistant chemical treatment to ensure it meets UK safety standards. The result is a softer, smoother mattress that smells fresh and doesn’t release chemicals into the atmosphere and waterways.
Recycled Plastic Bottles
Our hybrid models come with an enhanced sleeping surface made from soft, white polyester fibres. These fibres are in fact made from recycled plastic bottles, an environmentally friendly alternative to standard polyester.
Carbon Neutral Packaging
All Rollo mattresses come wrapped in Green Seal™, a polythene packaging made from recycled polythene and processed sugar cane. Both of these are natural renewable materials, making us one of the first mattress manufacturers to offer carbon neutral packaging.
